For your reference: Makom is the pinnacle of Central Asian classical Sufi music, a legacy of high traditions of the palace art of the medieval East. As a large cyclical form crystallized to the 18 century. In the 19 – 20 centuries, it flourished in the form of three style traditions: Bukhara shashmakom (a cycle of 6 makoms, from the Tajik shash "six"), Khorezm makom, Fergana-Tashkent makom. In the XX century, new forms of makom emerged within each style trend.
